ACTIVITIES FOR INFORMAL ASSESSMENT
Speaking:
Role-play: each student will bring information about several typical foods and dishes of different countries, in order to act in a role-play, in which they will talk (in pairs) about their preferences and food preparation habits.
Listening:
Students will listen to a recording of a cooking tv show, afterwards they will number the recipe’s steps in a correct order.
Reading:
Students will read a text about good eating habits “Eating foe energy”, and they will answer a set of True or False statements.
Participation:
Students will be assessed according to their participation through the activities presented in the whole unit.
Responsibility:
Students will be given short homework through the unit, which they will have to hand in at an appropriate time and form. This also includes the percentage of attendance.

BANDS
SPEAKING
20%à Speaks fluently with no hesitations or pauses. The message is clear and relevant. Uses grammatically correct structures and has no lexical errors. Shows the proper use of sounds, intonation and word stress.
15à In general, speaks quite fluently with some hesitations and pauses. The message is mostly relevant and clear. Use grammatically correct structures with some errors. Shows quite proper use of sounds with some mistakes.
10à Has some difficulty in speaking, with many errors. Presents grammatical errors that affect the comprehension of the message. The sounds are barely comprehensible.
5à Has difficulty speaking: the message and sounds are almost incomprehensible due to the inaccurate use of the grammar.
0à Impossible to speak, therefore, unable to use language.

LISTENING
10à The student fully understands the audio recording and is able to complete the activity correctly successfully.
5à The student has some difficulty comprehending the recording. In general, completes most part of the activity correctly.
0à The student is able to understand the recording, therefore, isn’t able to answer the activity.
READING
10à The student can understand the whole text with absolutely no difficulty, and is able to complete the activity correctly.
5à Has some difficulty comprehending the text. In general, completes most part of the activity correctly.
0à Cannot understand the text, therefore, he/she is unable to answer the activity.
PARTICIPATION AND RESPONSIBILITY
20à Shows interest and cooperativeness in class activities, therefore, participates actively. Turns in all the homework as requested. Complies with 100% of the attendance.
15à In general, shows interest and cooperativeness in class activities, participates most of the time. Turns in most of the homework as requested. Complies with at least 70% of the attendance.
10à Sometimes shows interest, has some difficulty cooperating and participating in class activities. Turns in some of the homework as requested. Complies with at least 50% of the attendance.
5à Shows very little interest and cooperativeness in class activities, barely participates in class. Turns in a couple of homework as requested. Complies with at least 10% of the attendance.
0à Doesn’t show any interest at all or cooperativeness in class activities. Doesn’t turn in any kind of homework, and doesn’t comply with the attendance.

Paul Anderson: We can see that in general, he spoke quite fluently but with some hesitations, and he only presented some errors on the grammatical structures. In the listening part, he fully understood the audio and completed the activity completely successfully. On the other hand, in the reading skill, he presented some difficulty comprehending the text and completed most part of the activity. Lastly, he only showed interest in the class sometimes, and the same for the homework that he handed in; he complied with at least 50% of the attendance.
Katia Scodelario, she spoke fluently, with absolutely no hesitations or pauses, using correct grammatical structures and she showed proper use of sounds. In the listening activity, she had some difficulty understanding the audio, the same goes for the reading activity, and in the participation and responsibility part, in general, she showed interest and cooperativeness in class, and she turned most of the homework as requested.
Jeremy Jones, he is one of the best students, therefore we can see that he got a perfect percentage. He spoke fluently with no hesitations and he applied the correct grammatical structures, in the listening and reading activities he fully understood the recording and the text, and completed the activities successfully. Lastly, he always showed interest and cooperativeness in class, he turned in all the homework and he complied with all of the attendance.
